Grime | What is it and Where it Began

What is Grime?

Grime is modern type of music which is often associated with gangstas and high school dropouts but a lot of the producers, artists and bands have degrees and have been to very highly rated universities. Grime is rapping to music that is created on a computer by a series of different sounds and beats to create a rhythm.

Where and how did Grime originate?

Grime originated in East London in 2002, it was created by two school boys who made Grime on computers they were given to do their school homework on. Rapid and Dirty Danger lived in Canary Warf were lots of their school friends also produced Grime and are now DJs and MCs. Rapid and Dirty Danger were eight and nine when they first created Grime. They became part of a group who made Grime for a joke, they were called Slix, Tinchy Stryder and Shifty Rydos, named themselves Ruff Sqwad. Who then all emerged as Grime artists among them are some of the biggest Grime artists.
